2024 Meeting Schedule

All of our meetings take place on the first Saturday of the month (with some exceptions for holidays). For 20 minutes prior to each meeting, participants can bring in their woodturning tools for sharpening, and get tips on sharpening their own.  There will then be a short business meeting followed by an approximately 90 minute long woodturning demonstration.

• November 2nd:  General Meeting and Demonstration, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, @ Glass Sash & Doors
  The next AWA monthly meeting will take place on Saturday, November 2^nd. As usual we will have a short business meeting followed with Part 2 of John Lane’s Tips and Tricks Demonstration. As you recall John spent some time emphasizing the importance of good tenon sizing and shared some interesting little-known items that could make your turning easier or more enjoyable. For November, John will build on the information shared at the October meeting. He will start off with tips on how to keep your lathe and tools in tip top condition. Other topics will include sharpening systems, CBN wheels, vacuum chucking, easy ways to carve on or off the lathe, different finishes for your turnings, and many more tips you will just have to show up to learn about. He will even share, from experience, a couple of things you don’t want to do. Audience participation is highly encouraged. If you have any questions or have something to share, please don’t hesitate to speak up. Afterall, this will be an information sharing session. So please plan to attend and enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut. Remember, we all have something in common, we all love the art of woodturning.
