Each year, the Alaska Woodturners Association partners with Bean’s Cafe in support of Bean’s fundraising events. Bean’s Cafe is a local non-profit dedicated to fighting hunger and one of their biggest fundraisers is the annual Empty Bowl Project in which attendees fill up on soup and cornbread while selecting a handcrafted bowl to take home. Each year, the Alaska Woodturners donate 75-450 hand turned bowls to Bean’s and their participation has been credited with helping to revitalize this event.
